History isn’t the only thing that has changed in the course of our existence. Our planet has evolved, and so has our bodies. Thanks to major breakthroughs in science, our lifespan, our heights and even our intelligence have increased in the last century. But we’re not done yet. According to researchers, humanity will evolve into this in a thousand years!
RISE OF THE MACHINES
As technology continues to evolve, machines are pretty much taking over human labor, which might be unfortunate for humans, but great for business, cause machines offer better quality and speed to the workforce. But eventually humans might have to start plugging themselves into machines or risk being obsolete.
TRANSHUMANISM IS COMING
In a thousand years time we could find ways to boost our immune systems, get a better understanding of how the brain works, find ways to get rid of cancer, and perform life saving surgeries that until now seemed like science fiction.
WE’LL BE FAR MORE TANNED
As a result of global warming, more people will be exposed to sunlight. So naturally, our genome will adapt to develop darker pigmented skin to protect themselves from the harmful effects of UV rays, but will like put tanning salons out of business.
WE’LL BE SEEING RED
Okay, most of the time our eyes only look red if we’ve drank too much, took a hit of an illegal substance, or worked too hard in front of our computer terminal. But apparently, researchers theorize that our eyes may become red too as a way to shield our eyes from the effects of cosmic rays.
OUR EYES WILL BE QUITE LARGE
Hopefully you find large eyes to be sexy, because in a thousand years, large eyes may become a trendy, and irreversible thing. It could also feature an eye-shine, enhanced low-light vision and a sideways blink to offer your eyes extra protection.
HUMANS WILL BE SMARTER
Having a higher IQ might suggest that you’re smart, but intelligence is far more than a high score on a test. Nevertheless, the Industrial Revolution had a profound effect on IQ test results. So some researchers suggest that as we evolve technologically, our IQ scores will shoot up.
WE’LL HAVE BIGGER BRAINS
The brain of prehistoric humans was forced to evolve due to severe climate changes. So it’s possible that as our world continues to change, our brains and skulls might increase in size too, but hopefully not in a way that it makes us look like those aliens from “When Mars Attacks”.
BABIES WILL BE GENETICALLY MODIFIED
Artificially selecting specific genomes is a practiced already performed on plants and animals. So it’s only a matter of time before we start modifying human genes before a baby’s born. On the plus side, this will allow us to eliminate any potential illnesses.
CUSTOMIZE YOUR BABY’S APPEARANCE
Through the same process that will allow doctors to select the right genome to enhance physical and mental traits, evolutionary psychologist, Geoffrey Miller, claims we’ll also be able to change a baby’s hair, eye, and skin colors like an avatar from “The Sims”.
OUR EYESIGHT WILL SUCK
As if UV radiation wasn’t bad enough, we’re slowly killing our eyes with computer monitors, flat screen TVs, ad VR headsets. So at some point in the future, we might find that poor eyesight is a norm for humans. Fortunately, we’ll be able to get an enhanced cybernetic eye to compensate.
