Finding the perfect wedding dress is not as easy as 1, 2, 3 for most women. However, for 93-year-old bride-to-be Sylvia Martin it will be as easy as A, B, C, or D. Her long-life friend Frank proposed to her and they’ve both decided to spend the rest of their lives together. Before they can exchange vows, however, she took to the Internet to help her decide which wedding dress to buy.
Frank Raymond and Sylvia Martin have been friends for many years before they decided to get married. Their age—Frank, 88; Sylvia, 93—is not an issue for them: they believe love knows no age barriers.
WIDOW TURNED WIFE
Frank had proposed to Sylvia many times, but she was reluctant because of her marital status, a recent widower. She wasn’t happy about the idea of replacing her surname because she believed it would be disrespectful to her late husband.
HOPELESS IN ADELAINE
Sylvia moved to Canberra to be near her family, leaving Frank with no hope for his dream to marry her. Frank was living in Adelaine until Sylvia found him and decided she did want to marry him.
Frank was so sure Sylvia was going to accept his marriage proposal one day, he had given her the ring a few years before. He had been trying for 20 years and his perseverance finally paid off.
Sylvia asked Frank to move to Adelaine with her, and she happily accepted his proposal this time. The whole surname issue was solved for her: she discovered she could keep her own surname and that gave her peace of mind.
The wedding preparation had begun, so Sylvia had to find the dress to say “I do”. She was so lucky that she found four beautiful red dresses, but she couldn’t choose one—most brides-to-be can’t even find one!
Since Sylvia couldn’t decide which dress to wear, she asked for help online. She posted the four dresses on Facebook for her friends to help her decide: they had to choose dress A, B, C, or D.
IT’S A MATCH!
After over 10,000 votes, the dress was easy to find: Sylvia went with a Sacha Drake short-sleeved lace dress that costs $349. Social media seems to help people do much more than just communicate!
HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS
When Frank moved to Adelaine, Sylvia said I do at her own home; so it would only be fair to get married there. And that’s what they did: they have the dress, they have the love, they have the venue; nothing can go wrong with these two!
HAPPILY EVER AFTER TO-BE
Their big day is coming up on July 25, so they’re planning it all with excitement and anticipation. They will show their love to the world with their inspiring story, which also proves there’s no age for love.
