Self improvement doesn’t always have to come from a life coach or that super friendly, bright covered self-help book in the motivation section of your local bookstore. It’s all around you, all you need to do is look, and maybe read our top 10 guidelines to a self improved “you” this summer.
GET OFF THE GRID
Give yourself and your hundreds of followers all over social media some time off. Try to get at least a full 24 hours of no social media. They say absence makes the heart grow fonder.
Diamonds are a girl’s best friend, but so is the sun. Not only is it good for bone growth and heart health, but it’s also great for a better mental well-being. Don’t forget the SPF though.
READING IS FREE
Although reading is fundamental, it’s also great for stress release, creativity and can even help with insomnia. Next time, you’ll finally be able to say you read the book before you watched the movie. Plus! Libraries are free, so let’s cheer to that.
BACK TO GIVING BACK
That’s right! We’re not talking about that sweater you borrowed 2 winters ago. Go out and find a cause you believe in, be those doggy shelters, food banks or even the local retirement home. Get involved in your local community; giving is sometimes better than receiving.
With hundreds of apps and vids on the net and your smartphone, its easier than ever to be creative and try new things. Whether it be blogging, song writing or even an arts and crafts master, who knows! You might even discover some unknown talents you never thought you had. Aaaand subscribe
SHOW ME YOUR TEETH
That’s right! SMILE! Not only does it make you feel better it also helps you feel more positive. Try and smile to a stranger, to yourself in the mirror, even your lovable pet. Smile like you’re a “Miss Something” pageant winner, and in no time you might even feel like one.
LAUGH… AT YOURSELF!
Get out of your comfort zone, go karaoke singing with friends, record a 90s choreography video of your favorite Spice Girls song, just let loose a little. How are you going to laugh at someone else if you can’ t even laugh at yourself?
THE TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE
This one is a bit of a challenge, be truthful, especially to yourself. Start meaning what you say, and saying what you mean. Be honest and transparent without turning into Regina George, but stay true to the truth in all aspects of your life.
We all have those nightmare situations, whether it’s public speaking, spiders or heights that halter us from doing things in life. STOP IT! That’s not the way to go through life! Always wondering what it’s like to be on the other side. Why not grab a buddy and tackle them head on? Conquering your fear might be the most exhilarating experience ever.
GIVE UP THE GHOST
Not the poltergeist type, the one that you’ve been dragging around with you hoping to shake for some time. Grab those bad habits (and you all know there’s always one) and them to the curb. Forget about them! Bye Felicia! And replace them with healthier choices. It’s time to start doing the things you’ve always wanted to do but never thought you could! Who’s stopping ‘ya?
