While beauty is just a physical characteristic, transgender women will also tell you it’s about character and strength. Meet some gorgeous models who were born male physically, but were able to be true to themselves and show the world what true beauty is about.
Knockout Claudia Charriez was eliminated from America’s Next Top Model (season 6) when it was discovered she had been born a male (the rules have since changed). However, the gorgeous Latina has gone on to model for various magazines and designers.
The fashion world is abuzz about Andreja (formerly known as Andrej), a striking transgender Australian model who has been profiled in Vogue magazine. She made her mark as the first androgynous supermodel who walked the runway modeling men and women’s fashions before becoming the first trans woman to become a cosmetic company spokeswoman in 2015.

She may have started as a male named Roberto, but Florencia has gone on to become a famous transgender actress, comedian, and vedette in Argentina. She has also been recognized for her advocacy and visibility in advancing transgender equality around the world. The Argentine star is also a mother to twins, and is married.
Also known as Chami, this stunning Sri Lankan beauty was a former contestant in the Miss International Queen pageant. She’s a popular figure in her homeland and has gone on to model internationally.
Isis made television history when she became the first trans woman to compete on America’s Next Top Model (cycle 11 & 17) and did a bang-ass job making a name for herself. The once homeless American beauty is also an actress and fashion designer, and has appeared on The Bold and the Beautiful and in Seventeen magazine.

Tula was a trailblazing English model in the 70s, who paved the way for future transgender women in the public eye. She was a Bond girl in For Your Eyes Only, has written two memoirs, and was open about her transition in the media. Lithe and beautiful Tula was also the first transgender woman to pose for Playboy, who has called her a “groundbreaking model-author-activist.”
Back in the 80s when fashion was as colorful and exciting as the nightlife and streets it took inspiration from, there was a blonde beauty from Iowa who took the fashion world by storm. Trans model Teri became a modeling sensation, walked the runways of Paris, and was the muse of several designers including Stephen Sprouse.
Lea T. has turned many heads in the fashion industry with her good looks and allure. The Brazilian trans model who grew up in Italy isn’t just a pretty face. She’s also an anti-bullying and equality advocate, and is a spokesperson for Redken. Forbes magazine recognized her as a notable woman who has changed Italian fashion.
Sirapassorn is a model from Thailand who won the crown of Miss International Queen 2011 pageant, a competition for transgender women who proved beauty knows no boundaries.
Despite being raised in a typical Hindu-Punjabi family, Shinata has followed her heart and gone on to win numerous beauty pageants. The British born stunner has been credited with increasing awareness and visibility for South Asians and the Indian LGBT community.
