Despite a bunch of young aspiring stars in Hollywood, studios are ripping us off by making us believe that these actors who are in their mid-20s (or more!) are high school teens dealing with acne and relationship drama. Now, we’re not complaining! We loved the heck out of them, but it makes you wonder… can’t they find 18-year-old twinks to play these roles? Hollywood: you’re so full of it… and we love it!
Okay, so Andrew Garfield wasn’t ancient when he took on the role of a teenage Peter Parker, but given that the actor was 28 at the time, we’re surprised the webslinger wasn’t shooting blanks from his wrists.
GHOST IN A SHELL
Shirley Henderson played the long-suffering ghost, Moaning Myrtle, who haunted the halls of Hogwarts in two “Harry Potter” films, but the actress herself was 37 years old, but not nearly as dusty as the school books.
MEAN OLD GIRLS
When 25-year-old Rachel McAdams took on the undisputed swaggerific role of queen bee as Regina George on “Mean Girls”, she managed to do it without anyone realizing that she was 10 years older than her cliquey counterpart. Evil knows no age!
OH, NO, SANDY DIDN’T
Olivia-Newton-John played a sweet, naive 17 or 18-year-old high school student, but clearly her voice wasn’t her only talent as she was 29 when she played the timeless role in “Grease”.
“HEY!” YOU’RE OLD
Henry Winkler, aka Fonzie on “Happy Days” hid the fact that he was circling the drain towards the big 3-0 when he tried to pass off as a teenager, with his leather jacket, and swag look. Now that’s one slick (and old) tween!
TIME TO RETIRE THAT ZIP CODE
We’re not saying that the other actors on the original Beverly Hills 90210 were all spring chickens, but 29-year-old Gabrielle Carteris was 15 years older than her character, Andrea, but we knew she was old AF.
Cory Monteith may have fooled you into thinking that he was actually a teenage high school quarterback when “Glee” started up in 2009, but he was actually 27, and will remain forever young, despite his death at 31.
30 AND IN HIGH SCHOOL
If Stockard Channing seemed a little too mature to play Rizzo, a student at Rydell High and leader of the Pink Ladies on “Grease”, it’s because she was! Stockard was 34, and that lie about her being a sassy teen is greasier than Travolta’s hair.
MIGHTY MORPHIN ANTI-AGING
Actor David Yost, played 15-year-old Billy Cranston when “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” came out in 1993. It was certainly a morphinomenal trick cause Yost was actually 24 when he took on that role. Let that sink in!
DISNEY’S YOUTHFUL ENERGY
Being shorter and wearing bangs certainly helped Jason Earles to pull off that obnoxious teenager when he starred in “Hannah Montana”. Disney Channel must have used fairy dust because Earle was actually 29.
