Most couples don’t have loads of money to spend on an expensive wedding, but there’s one thing you should never cut from your budget, and that’s a professional wedding photographer. Just ask Eirik Halvorsen, a specialist who proved how your wedding album can look like a nightmare without a pro behind the camera. Don’t believe us? Get ready to start shaking your head in disbelief!
1. HAPPY BUT HAZY
Once you say “I do” the only thing you’ll have left of this moment are photos, which is why Halvorsen chose to prove why a professional wedding photographer is essential on your wedding day. Unless you’re into hazy, pixelated pics!
2. PRETTY GRAINY IF YOU ASK ME
Halvorsen saw one woman’s opinion while scrolling through a Facebook wedding photo group, and made it his mission to convince people to go pro, unless you want to end up all grainy looking like this otherwise beautiful bride.
3. SAY CHEESE!
Halvorsen posted this photo of his bride. But the bad thing about having “Uncle Joe” or “Aunt Judy” take the photos, is that they always take it without letting you know. They also make pretty lousy directors and never tell you where to face.
4. THE PHOTOS ARE TOO DARK
A professional photographer will use special lighting to ensure that the bride and groom don’t end up looking like they got married during a power outage, unlike this bride who seemed to be the only thing glowing in this photo.
5. THE FUZZY COUPLE
This bride would have probably turned a bridezilla after she saw the photos and noticed the lack of contrast, which made her and Halvorsen look very fuzzy. Fortunately, their love for each other is still clear, and so are the other photos taken by a professional photographer they hired.
6. AMATEUR VS PRO
These are Halvorsen and his wife’s wedding photos, and while some of them were taken by their guests, others were taken by a professional wedding photographer so that he could prove the importance of getting a clearer picture on the most important day of your life.
7. QUITE THE CONTRAST
You can clearly see the difference, literally, in the contrast of the professional photos. You don’t even have to squint or enhance these photos. They’re simply perfect, and they capture the happiness Halvorsen and his wife shared that day.
8. NEVER SACRIFICE THE PHOTOGRAPHER
Both he and his bride cut costs just about everywhere they possibly could in order to ensure that they could hire their dream photographer, and judging from the photos taken by their guests, it was a good call, or they wouldn’t have a wedding album to be proud of.
9. QUALITY DOES MATTER
Composition, lighting, image quality and other features differ dramatically between the professional photos, and those taken from a Smartphone. Some photographers will even cut you a deal. But it’s better than winding up with photos that look like they were taken by a 20-year-old camera.
10. DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME
You only get one shot to get it right in these moments, so Halvorsen suggests that “if you want those photos to look great, they should be taken by someone who knows what he’s doing.”
