The winter can be harsh on everyone, but it can be especially hard on animals to struggle just to find a little warmth. Luckily, they’re not entirely alone in this world, and thanks to the help of a good Samaritan and her clever idea, lots of cats are finding themselves safe and sound even in the most blistering cold!
THIS LADY LOVES ANIMALS
Şebnem Ilhan from Tekirdag, Turkey has a mission. She cares a lot about little stray animals that tend to freeze in harsh weather, and so she knew she had to do something.
WINTER WAS COMING
We all know that winter comes every year, but unfortunately, in Şebnem’s neighbourhood, they seem to get worse each and every time. That meant more cats might be at risk of dying!
SHE COULDN’T BEAR TO DO NOTHING
As an animal lover, Şebnem knew that she would be too sad and worried to do absolutely nothing about these lovely animals’ deaths. She had always had a big heart and it was time to put things into motion, and make the impossible become paw-sible!
BUT SHE COULDN’T LET THEM ALL IN
No matter how cute and adorable the cats all were, it’s simply impractical to let that many into your home. Leaving her door open to all of them just wasn’t an option.
SO SHE FOUND A SOLUTION
She built a cat ladder! It’s a genius idea, allowing the cats to climb to relative safety and warmth. She and her husband were happy to do something to help them out, no matter how small it might be.
THE TOP OF THE LADDER
Once the cats reach the top of the ladder, they have somewhere warm to play, away from the cold they’re so used to on the streets. As they say – heat rises!
THE BALCONY’S THE BEST BIT
There’s a mini balcony attached to one of Şebnem’s windows where she can lean out and say hello. She’s often spotted giving her little friends attention, and you’d imagine they’re so very grateful!
IT BECAME A PROJECT
Şebnem wanted to make her safe space for cats as warm and welcoming as possible. It looks absolutely adorable, it’s decorated with flowers, and for bonus points, it even blends in perfectly with the exterior of the house.
THAT’S NOT ALL
This isn’t the first time that Şebnem has helped out local animals, she spends all her free time loving them, feeding them and caring for them. If there’s any way she can volunteer her time, she’ll do it, proving that we can make this a better place if we just try to give a little.
WE CAN ALL LEARN FROM ŞEBNEM
This is a lady who wanted to make a difference; and she didn’t just sit back and did nothing. She said “I wish no animal is hungry or thirsty, just happy. This world is not just for people”. She’s right!
