Most of us adults try to work on better versions of ourselves everyday. But we might get distracted along the way and be tempted to follow some other unhealthy decisions. Bad habits are hard to quit, but it’s important that you know how to identify them so you can focus your efforts into ditching them. Here are a few unhealthy habits that you will be so much better off without.
We all have bad days, but always thinking you’re not good enough or constantly putting yourself down will make it hard for you to succeed. Don’t be so harsh on yourself and, instead, focus on your good qualities and work to add on from there.
YOU’RE TOXIC, I’M SLIPPING UNDER
You don’t need to be a Britney Spears fan to really understand the lyrics. Toxic relationships are simply unhealthy and get the worst of you. This can either go from your partner to your boss or even your parents. Recognize them and run away; they won’t do you any good.
We all complain every once in a while, but making this a habit will only attract more negativity into your life. Appreciate what you have and work on what you don’t rather than just complaining about it, which won’t get you anywhere, really.
FROM THE INSIDE OUT
If you think your happiness is not your responsibility, you’ll probably end up expecting things that will never come. True happiness comes from within, not from your outside world. If you’re not satisfied with who you are, how are you gonna appreciate what comes to you from others?
LIKE ME. LIKE ME. LIKE ME.
Some people are always looking for approval in others, and this is a terribly unhealthy habit if you wish to grow as a person. You are the only one who has the ability to judge yourself. Depending on others for this purpose will only bring disappointment and dependency.
TOO LITTLE, TOO LATE
We’ve all missed the bus once or got stuck in traffic and arrived late somewhere we had to be. However, making this a habit shows disrespect for others, and that’s the same you’ll get in return. Put a bit more effort to show you are responsible and earn their respect.
You feel sad and compensate it with food? You feel happy and celebrate it with a meal? Relating your feelings with food will lead you to not only overeating, but also to eat unhealthy more often. We are what we eat after all, so treat your body with the respect it deserves.
MAKING IT RAIN
Spending money is fun. What’s not fun is overspending money you don’t actually have. Be wise about what you buy and what you truly need, because burying yourself into debt is easy, and it can snowball out of control in no time.
We can all do two things at once, but most likely we won’t be able to concentrate right and do those things properly. Don’t waste energy by multi-tasking, and rather take the time to finish each task right and only move on to the next one after that.
Love to sunbathe and brag about your tan at the office? Your skin has memory and, although you might look nice now with that extra tone of color, in a few years you will notice all the effects of not taking care of it properly: wrinkles, stains, and even the risk of getting skin cancer. Put on some protection! You will thank us in a few years.
